How Often Do Electronic Truck Scales Need Calibration?

Mandatory Verification According to the Metrology Law and JJG 539-2016, electronic truck scales used for trade settlement are subject to mandatory verification.

The legally mandated verification period is no more than one year, with most regions requiring verification every six months. In harsh environments or high-frequency usage scenarios, this can be shortened to three months.

Internal Calibration

For high-frequency use (50-100 truck trips per day), monthly or even weekly self-verification with a standard vehicle is recommended. For low-frequency use, quarterly verification is recommended. In areas with large temperature differences, additional calibration is recommended during seasonal transitions.

Immediate Recalibration Scenarios

Recalibration is mandatory immediately when sensors/instruments are replaced, the scale body is impacted/submerged in water, the foundation settles, or the weighing data is significantly abnormal, regardless of how long since the last calibration.
