How to Determine the Accuracy of an Electronic Scale

Based on the previously mentioned background on electronic scale use and maintenance, the following simple and easy-to-operate methods can be used to determine the accuracy of an electronic scale:

Daily Quick Self-Check Method: Use a mobile phone with a known accurate weight (e.g., 200-210g) as a portable "weight" on the scale to be tested. If the displayed value deviates significantly from the actual weight of the phone, the scale is inaccurate. Alternatively, you can use a 500ml unopened bottle of water (net weight approximately 500g) for testing; an error within ±50g is generally reliable.

Compliance Verification Method: Check if the electronic scale has a CMC mark, a valid green mandatory inspection certificate, an intact seal, is placed horizontally, and that the display is stable at zero before weighing, with no abnormal button sounds.

Professional Verification Method: Weigh the scale multiple times at different positions on the weighing pan using a standard weight. If the deviation of the displayed value at each point conforms to the allowable range of national standards such as JJG 1036-2022, and the results are repeatable and stable, the scale is qualified and accurate. You can also have the weight cross-checked at a market-certified scale.
